Autumn Colours
Here where I live I'm seeing more and more hints of autumn every time I look outside. The temperatures still feel like summer but I know fall is just around the corner. I absolutely love the colours and temperatures that fall brings but it also brings to mind that winter is going to follow! So with fall and going back to school in mind I have been working on a few hats that suit this time of the year. My sister from Simply Rosie came out to my place yesterday to photo shoot my girls in a few of them so soon I will have some more beautiful choices of hats in my shop!
As far as my baby is concerned, he's doing very well! Unbelievably the first month has come and gone already and a part of me feels sad to see him grow out of the sleepy newborn stage already. He has been very good too me and we love snuggling despite the extremely warm temperatures we've had lately!

Hot Summer Days
Well, where I live (Manitoba, Canada) we've been hit with a heat wave over the past few days so I'm staying mostly in my house where it's a bit cooler than outside. With baby's arrival day coming very close now with only 1.5 weeks left until due date the hot humid temperatures are making it quite difficult for me to stay positive! Heat used to be something that I thrived on but after having a few kids mild temperatures are much appreciated.
Last night my hubby decided to spend the night tenting on the lawn with the kids. By 11 pm youngest girlie was in the house and tucked into her crib. I was very content to stay in my air conditioned room for the night. By 4 am the rest of the clan came stumbling up the stairs hoping to find a cooler spot to spend the rest of the night and hoping to avoid the storm in the distance. Good thing they made that choice as that storm was quite something!
As far as my crochet, I'm still keeping up with orders and hoping to get a few more items made for my little one. Once we're settled in with baby I have a few items to introduce to everyone that I'm very excited about and hope you will be too!

My Kids!
So you will most likely see my children's faces in my shop often as they are always available and they are very, very adorable!
My oldest is Bronson and he is turning 6 in a bit over a month. He is just finishing up kindergarten and has had a very positive experience so far and loves to learn. Here he is modelling one of my hats. He's not too crazy about being in front of the camera so he might appear less frequently but isn't he so handsome?
My second oldest, Elizabeth (named after my mom), turned 4 this past April and is extremely energetic and carefree when she's well. She is our miracle child as she was born with serious complications in her kidneys/bladder. After two surguries and some hospital stays she has done quite well and has proven to us over and over again how brave she is! Here she is, beautiful as always:
Our third, Emily is 2 1/2 years old and she has an awesomely cheerful personality and we have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her! She's our first to inherit daddy's beautiful blue eyes. She'll have to adjust to losing her "baby" satus in a few weeks with number 4 coming but I think she'll make a wonderful sister:

And in case you haven't become a fan of my Facebook page yet, I'm sitting at 49 sales and to celebrate sale #50 I'm reimbursing shipping costs to whomever makes that sale!

Count Down
So, as most of you may already know, I'm expecting baby number four in about five weeks! We are all very excited to meet the latest addition to our family. My husband and oldest son of course are hoping for a boy because they don't want to be too outnumbered by the girls. If we have a boy we'll be even at three boys and three girls (including my husband and me).
Our baby is already expected to model a few props and hats for my shop! Hopefully he/she will be a happy and sleepy model. Here's a peak at a few projects that should be available in my shop once I've recovered and settled into life with a baby! Hopefully recovery will be quick!
You may have seen this on my Facebook fanpage before. I'll make it available as soon as the diaper cover has been tried.
The stork pouch is already available in my shop but I'm looking forward to having pictures with a baby in it.
I also have a cocoon/hat set ready to be modelled but don't have pictures right now. My sister took it to a photography workshop this weekend so I'll show pictures when I have some!

My Sisters
In my previous post I wrote a bit about me and mentioned that my sisters are my best friends. My sisters are also a big part of what I am doing with my work.
My sister Vera, creates beautiful images with her camera! She has nine beautiful children so a lot of models for her to work with! Here's a picture just to show you what I'm talking about! You'll see more of her work pop up in my blog, Facebook, and Etsy.
My sister Rosie from Simply Rosie Photography also has incredible talent! I keep thinking she's perfected her work and then she surprises me with something even better! She is a mom to three boys so my girls are always available to her if she needs a princess fix. You can see her work at www.simplyrosiephotography.ca. here's a picture of her talent:
My sister Marlene is only 1.5 years older than me so we've gone through all life experiences together. She recently moved back to Manitoba after living in Ontario for the first 7 plus years of marriage and I am so happy about that! Her daughters I'm sure will be frequent models for my hats! They are so adorable! Here's her youngest (picture taken by my sister Rosie):
Then there's my oldest sister Layna and my youngest sister Janie whom you have not seen anywhere in my posts yet. My oldest sister is a cheerful and giving person who keeps us laughing and is very supportive of her younger sisters. She has 6 beautiful children so who knows, some more modelling potential maybe? My youngest sister Janie lives in Saskatchewan so right now we don't see very much of her. She enjoys crocheting like I do so who knows, maybe someday we will have an opportunity to join forces.

A Bit About Me
So, most of you have probably not heard much about the person behind the hats so here's a little history for you.
I am the eleventh child of a wonderfully close family, born in Costa Rica, Central America. My parents moved to Manitoba Canada when I was four years old so this feels like home to me. My parents had 12 children (6 boys and 6 girls) and I admire them so much! If I turn out to be anything like my mom I will be so grateful. The last five in the family were girls so you can imagine how much fun we have together. My sisters are truly my best friends.
I got married to the love of my life (one year after we met) and we will be celebrating 8 years of marriage this June. We have three children and one on the way. We're anticipating his/her arrival mid July so some excitement coming our way shortly!
Favourite passtimes for me are gardening, working out (ran my first 1/2 marathon last year), sipping coffee with sisters, friends, or husband. Crocheting of course is fun too :-)
My husband grew up on a cattle farm and that's his passion. I enjoy living in the country with him and believe it's a wonderful place to raise a family!
My sister Rosie, who is an amazing photographer, has been encouraging me for some time to put my interest in crafting to use by creating photo props for her so I give her a lot of credit for the opening of my Etsy shop. You can see what she does here: www.simplyrosiephotography.ca
